These publications represent information relevant to sustainable housing.
A manual and guidelines for Sustainable Housing Projects is available. Click here to download the manual in pdf format (1,07 mb).

The manual is a useful tool, suitable for environmental management in housing projects. All over the world the environment is under intense pressure. One of the reasons being that the built environment, both during construction and when being maintained, consumes an enormous amount of resources causing significant effects on the environment.
During the project design phase, it is possible to act with greater or less wisdom in relation to the environment. The decisions made here are crucial to the results. However, to reach the best result it is necessary to work systematically and to develop a sound working knowledge of the requirements. This manual is intended to serve as a basic tool in this process. The manual is equally relevant to clients, architects, engineers and authorities.
European Green Cities Network
European Green Cities Network is a thematic network under the EU 5th
framework programme. The network disseminates knowledge and
experiences regarding sustainable urban housing technologies in
order to stimulate market development and help speed up innovation.
EC support period: 01.07.2001 - 30.06.2005.

European Green Cities
The project involves 11 low energy demonstration projects in 9 EU
countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Italy,
Spain and the United Kingdom) with a total of 645 dwellings involved.
The objective is to introduce an integrated sustainable global solar
low energy design using best available technologies in new build and
retrofit building projects based on energy and environmental
assessment together with a total energy and economy approach.
EC support period: 01.09.1996 - 31.12.2000.

Green Solar Regions
The "Green Solar Regions" project has been realised from 2000 to September 2003 with demonstration project activities in Denmark, Poland and Italy. The project has been part of the ongoing ”European Green Cities” co-operation, which started in 1996.
It has been the aim of the Green Solar Regions project to demonstrate how to optimise use of innovative solar energy technologies together with energy savings on optimised energy supply for different types of buildings.
The aim was to start an urban ecology management process as part of a common European Green Solar Cities project. Here a co-operation between builders, cities, contractors, suppliers/producers and utilities was aimed at.
EC support period: 01.01.2000 - 30.08.2003

Green Housing Block
The Green Housing Block project is dealing with local demonstration of best available solar low-energy technologies in L'Isle d'Abeau (F) and in Portsmouth (UK). The project is realised in connection with the "European Green Cities" co-operation.
Timing: 01.01.2000 - 31.12.2003
