The European Green Cities Network (EGCN) was started up in 1996 in connection to
EU Thermie project European Green Cities – as a forum for dissemination of
Sustainable Urban Housing initiatives and good examples etc.
Project coordinator Green City Denmark A/S became secretariat for EGCN – which continued dissemination for EU projects Green Housing Block and Green Solar Regions - and in 2001 the network was further developed in connection to EU Thematic project European Green Cities Network, which included launching of hereby website.
From 2005 was amongst some of EGCN members initiated project Green City Building, which relate to an EU programme within the Environmental Directorate. This project will continue until June 2008.
Project Green City Building and connected EGCN secretariat activities were continued from August 2006 in European Green Cities ApS.
