Building energy management system

The new control systems were installed; one located in the boiler plant room and a second in the new roof space of Leamington House to control the solar thermal, PV and heat recovery ventilation systems.

The boiler room Building Energy Management System (BEMS) was installed to meet the following objectives:
  1. To control the boiler plant, pumps, pressurisation unit and ancillaries in a safe manner and to minimise energy use and maintenance costs.
  2. To provide automatic alarm signals to Portsmouth City Council’s (PCC) maintenance contractors by means of an auto-dial modem.
  3. To monitor gas used, energy delivered and operating conditions of both space and water heating.

The roof plant Building Energy Management System (BEMS) was designed and installed to meet the following objectives:

  1. To control the solar plant, solar primary pump and ancillaries items in a safe manner and to minimise energy use and maintenance costs.
  2. To control the heat recovery ventilation systems (HRVU) in a safe manner and to minimise energy use and maintenance costs.
  3. To provide automatic alarm signals to Portsmouth City Council’s (PCC) maintenance contractors by means of an auto-dial modem.
  4. To monitor energy delivered and operating conditions of both solar and HRVU systems.
  5. To monitor energy supplied by PV installation.
