PV operated ventilation system with heat recovery

Ecomaster R 800 is a heat recovery ventilation unit which has been developed for decentralized school ventilation. This means that the ventilation unit is used for only one classroom and can be individually controlled here.

80–90% of the energy from the exhaust air is transferred to the fresh inlet air by help of the very efficient counter flow heat exchanger in aluminium from EcoVent. The exchange of air is made by help of energy efficient low energy fans, which can supply up to 800 m3 per hour of air in 5 different fan speed levels.

Air filtration is made by 2 panel filters. The cabinet of Ecomaster R 800 unit is designed with a white colour. The interior of the unit is equipped with noise absorbing material which is needed to ensure a low noise level.

The Ecomaster R 800 is as a standard delivered with an external control box.
The control system includes the following features:
  • Choice of 5 different values of fan speeds.
  • Bypass of fresh air. Makes it possible to have a cooling function in summer (Assecory)
  • It is possible to use a ”movement” sensor for air exchange control. This will ensure a more energy-efficient operation, so there will only be a low level or no fan speed when there is no activity in the room.
  • There is a light diode to show when you need to change filters.

The project is a pioneer example of ventilation of classroom in Poland that in itself functions as a kind of biology/physics tests in the teaching.

Ventilation system regulations in Poland:
In Poland ventilation standard was elaborated over 20 years ago, and because of this it is not quite adequate to present building standard in Europe.

Polish ventilation standard PN-83
According with the standard a ventilation system should assure fresh air stream at least 20 m3/h per person. The standard states that the gravitation ventilation system is adequate for public buildings not higher then 11 stories. For higher buildings mechanical ventilation system is obligated.

Annex PN-B-003430:1983
Changing the requirements as follow:

  • Buildings higher then 9 stories should be equipped with a mechanical ventilation system.
  • Stream of fresh air ought to be 20-50m3/h in buildings with gravitation ventilation.
