Architecture and indoor air climate

In the design process of the rooftop apartment there has been a strong focus on how to optimise the relation between architecture and indoor air climate. The aim is to give the apartment extremely good daylight condi¬tions and at the same time control the indoor temperature during sum¬mer.

The high positioned windows will secure a good diffusion of light and natural ventilation while the windows placed low will give a view of the surroundings. The windows positioned high contribute to a good distribu¬tion of light in the apartment. Further the windows placed high are used for night cooling and transverse ventilation during summer.

Windows facing south which during winter are used for collecting passive solar heating can in summer be shielded using outside blinds, in order to reduce the influence from the solar radiation.

At the same time balanced ventilation with heat recovery with 85-90% efficiency is used. This secures a good indoor air climate as regards to temperature and humidity level as well as avoidance of allergens in the dwelling.
