The family house is located in Rybniste in the Usti region, Czech Republic. The area has a very poor energy supply; available are only solid fuels, electricity and freely distributed heating matters (propane and heating oil). The house is a new, two-story basement-less building with low, not used attic. Heat loss for heating is 11.5 kW. The total floor space is 230 m².

The heat source is a heat pump Viessmann Vitocal 343, which is drawing low-potential heat from ground probes and is transforming it to higher potential energetic level using compressor. The heat pump is independent heat producer and is covering all heat losses. The heat pump includes a 6 kW electric boiler to cover peak energy needs during winter days.

For supplemental heating of supply water is used solar equipment Viessmann Vitosol 100, 2 x 2.5 m².

Fireplace for heating with wood is placed in a living room.

Heating medium is water of temperature gradient 45/40°C. Heat circuit is made of heat pump, storage tank and three-way mixing armature. To the mixing armature is connected copper piping leading to the dividers for floor heating.

Main heating area in the whole house is made with floor heaters Giacomini. Each floor circuit is connected to the dividers placed in both floors. For supplementary bathroom heating are used Korado ladder-heaters Koralux.

Distribution of the floor heating is made from pipes PE-X 18x2 with oxygen barrier, laid on systematic insulation boards with stumps. Temperature gradient is 42/37 °C, water circulation secures circulating pump.

The storage tank Vitocell 050 is used for energy accumulation, to be used as a reserve source for heating and also to limit frequent switching on and off the heat pump.

The whole system is operated by heat regulation of the heat pump CD 70, which provides equithermal regulation, automatic electric boiler operation, control of the primary heat pump, control of the warm supply water preparation, control of the solar collectors and control of the mixing valve for floor heating.
