Individual multifunctional heating plant with condensing gas boiler and integrated ventilation

Two of the building blocks in the Houtvenne project are heated by individual, multifunctional heating plants, which combines heating, subsequent heating of domestic hot water and ventilation. The advantage of such design lies in the waste heat utilisation. The plant uses the waste heat of the boiler for the preheating of the ventilation air.

B = start heating circuit
C = cold water input
D = to hot water tap
E = gas
F = condense disposal
G = returning air
H = air input
J = fresh air
K = disposal waste air + flue gasses

Exhaust air from the kitchen, bathroom and toilets is transferred via the ductwork of the ventilation system to the condensing gas boiler. Part of this air is used for burning the gas, whereas the remainder is transported through the valve to the collection box. The valve controls the air supply for the burning bed in order to ensure optimal burning of the gas. The stale air and the exhaust flue gas goes through the heat exchanger, where it condenses and releases its latent energy. In the heat exchanger fresh air is coming in, heated, and distributed to the dwellings by the ventilation ductwork.
